A gallery website that hangs the paintings like a museum.

Vesna Delevska paints light, color and movement, performs live with musicians, paints murals, teaches, and runs her own gallery. We imagined a website worthy of the paintings, an online store she runs herself, and a studio back office for orders, inquiries and profit and loss.

The artist

About Vesna Art Gallery.

Vesna Delevska was born in Skopje, Macedonia, grew up around the frescoes and icons of its monasteries, and has painted in the St. Louis area for many years. Her gallery is in Mid Rivers Mall in St. Peters, where visitors often find her at the easel.

This is an independent concept by Sea Grape Labs, shown with the artist's permission. It is not her current website and is not connected to her real store or systems. Orders, inquiries, collectors and money figures in it are sample data.

The challenge

What the project had to solve.

  1. 01

    Worthy of the paintings

Her work is about light and movement. The website needed to present it like an exhibition, not a product grid.

  2. 02

Hundreds of originals, easy to browse

A large collection needed filters for size, orientation, price and availability, with sold works kept as an archive.

  3. 03

    Show the true scale

An eighty inch panorama and a small icon on wood look the same size on a screen. Collectors needed to feel the difference.

  4. 04

    Run the store herself

Adding a painting, marking it sold, answering a commission request and seeing the month's numbers needed to be simple.

The website

Built around the canvas.

Designed from a blank page around how collectors discover, fall for and buy a painting.

  • A cinematic opening

The homepage starts in the brushwork of one painting and pulls back to the full canvas hanging on a gallery wall.

  • A walk through the gallery

Scroll sideways past ten works hung at true relative scale, each one coming forward as it reaches the center.

  • A full-screen exhibition

Highlights shown one at a time on a dark gallery wall, with keyboard and swipe, details and a to-scale view.

  • The whole collection

Every original with its price, size and medium, filtered and searchable, with collected works as an archive.

  • A page for every painting

Zoom into the brushwork, see it to scale above a sofa, ask about prints or request a custom version.

  • Commissions, murals, live painting and workshops

Each part of her work has its own page, with a custom quote request and workshop sign up.

In motion

Five scenes in motion.

Recorded straight from the concept as you scroll. Each one switches to still frames for visitors who prefer less motion.

How it connects

From a first look to a painting on the wall.

  1. 01A collector walks the gallery
  2. 02They open one painting
  3. 03They see it to scale
  4. 04They add it to their selection
  5. 05They choose delivery and installation
  6. 06The order lands in her studio
  7. 07She schedules the install
  8. 08The painting shows as collected

In the concept the website, the collector portal and the studio share one set of information, so a sale, a commission approval or a new painting never has to be copied from one place to another.
